There it is - april 2026

Jason talks with comedian and improviser Gabi Swain about her path from Michigan to Pennsylvania (not the other way around), living in Philly, and how a political-science and campaign career (including work in DC) left her burnt out and led her to discover improv. After seeing an all-day improv festival at the Harrisburg Improv Theater, she became deeply involved, eventually co-founding the indie Swear Jar Jamboree comedy festival. Gabi explains the festival’s purposeful community-building approach, its produced show blocks mixing improv, sketch, standup, clown, character, and more. They also discuss improv warmups, long-form styles (including Harold and Spokane), Gabi’s D&D projects like Tiny Tabletop and “15-minute D&D,” and more more fun stuff!

Should I keep this? - April 2026

Guest Gabi Swain is renovating her office so she brought multiple items to Sam for her wise council. The two discuss memorable childhood performances and buying props/costumes with big plans. This week’s props: a genie lamp, a cool vintage umbrella, a long Ren Faire skirt and a red store bought Renaissance dress.

Gabi Swain is a Philadelphia-based producer, game master, and comedian working at the edges of improv, tabletop RPGs, and creative technology. She creates content around the craft of play as a performer, a GM, and a builder of the tools and systems that let independent creative projects actually run. When she’s not on stage or behind the screen, she’s creating tools for the communities she loves. Follow her on Instagram
